Theory: The stock prop works fine, but the clip that holds in in place tends to break. Why just replace the clip when you can replace the whole rod?
Opinion: The stock prop and clip are horrible. This is definitely a great solution. If you buy a premade kit, you will spend a lot of money (like I did) but the installation takes only a couple minutes. If you fabricate the parts yourself, it will take longer but save the money. I think this is a great addition, but it would look a lot better with a nice engine lid shroud.
