Theory: The theory is doorsills (as a cover) protect the car's actual doorsills from damage and dirt. However, these are mostly for looks.
Opinion: Despite how easy they look to install, the project took a good couple hours. The parts are designed for the foreign MR2's and nearly snap right on to those. The American cars have to have the stock plastic sills modified so that these will fit. I wish that people would respect the sills more as many passengers like to scuff/ding these up. They looked great brand new. Now they just look "good".
