Theory: I suppose you could claim that tinting is purchased because it limits your interior's exposure to UV rays. Really, tinting is there to make the car look nicer and possibly lend some privacy to the occupants. That helps when Civics pull up next to you reving their engines and you do not want them to see your eyes rolling.
Opinion: I had an auto trim specialist shop do the install for me. It looks very professional and you can definitely tell the quality on the rear window (since many companies do a poor job on a curved window like that). I do wish I had removed the "black trim and dots" area that goes around the small side windows and the T-tops prior to installing the tint, but it still looks very good.
