Cost: $120
Time: 1 hour initially, an additional hour to run the extra wires to the ECU
Theory: Turbochargers become extremely hot during regular (and especially "sprited" driving) and immediately shutting off the engine prevents the oil from circulating and can cause the oil to bake. It builds up in the lines (like cholesterol in arteries), eventually a sufficient amount of oil cannot circulate in the turbocharger and it fails.
Opinion: Considering the cost to replace a turbo, this is a very minor investment well worth its cost. Basic turbo timers can be found much cheaper than this one, but will not have many of the features this one. The nicest feature is the automatic mode, which uses inputs from the ECU's RPM and Speed wires to determine how long the engine needs to cool down. It can also tell acceleration times (60ft, 1/8 mile, 1/4 mile, 0-60mph) as well as engine speed.
